Beatrix Potter married local solicitor Willaim Heelis. This 17th Century building was once his office.
It has remained largely unchanged since his day, and is now a Gallery showing an annually changing exhibition of some of Beatrix Potter's large number of original drawings and illustrations.
The Gallery also has details and exhibits of the life and times of Beatrix Potter, plus a part showing what William Heelis' office was likeWilliam Heelis' office.
